Covid-19 Myanmar Travel FAQs : On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of COVID-19 to be a global pandemic. As COVID-19 virus continues to spread around the world, it is a very difficult situation for everyone, but the health and safety of our travellers and stakeholders has become our top priority. Our service was temporarily stopped to make everyone involved safe. Following Myanmar government’s regulations, our team has been working hard to restart and reinvent our service for the “New Normal” situation. We are fully prepared now and are ready to welcome you and other international tourists to Myanmar once the International airports reopen.

Q : I have a booking with Mira Travels / MEX? What will happen to it?

A:  We want to inform that we have not forgotten you and your booking is safe with us. Talk to us for best possible solutions.

Q : How do I cancel my booked trip with Mira Travels / MEX?

A : As valued customer, we respect your decision but we would like to encourage you to postpone your booking instead of cancelling it entirely. Our travel programs have contributed to community development in Myanmar. By traveling responsibly, income is generated into local communities.

In case of any concern, if you have booked through one of our agents, please contact them first. If you have booked directly with us, do not hesitate to write to us to see how we can best assist you.

Q : I am currently on tour, what to do next?

A : If you are already in Myanmar on one of our programs, the operation will run as scheduled. For volunteers, we will liaison with your host organziation to check continuity of their operation during crisis.

Some travelers may have the desire to return home early so we are offering travelers the option to either continue with their tour as planned or to leave the tour early Our team will help with logistics, however, costs associated with your return home are to be directed to your travel insurance provider and/or your airline. Should you decide to leave early, we are unable to refund.

If you decided to stay in Myanmar, please follow rules and regulations issued by our government. Kindly keep in touch us our team for updates. You are also advised to get in touch with your embassy in Myanmar in case of emergency.

Q : What kind of safety measures Mira Travels / MEX is taking for customers?

A : Here are the safety measures taken at our company :

  • Personal hygiene : mandatory daily temperature checking, hand washing, wearing face masks
  • Social distancing : office social distancing (contact no less than 2-meters)
  • Disinfection : alcohol and masks are provided for visitors; Air purifier with HEPA filter and UV light is installed at our office.
  • Adjusted work hour: office hours from 10:00hr – 16:00hr on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to avoid the crowded transportation time for our staff. Masks, faceshield, gloves and handsanitizer are provided for the staff. Customer service continues to be offered 24/7, via phone or WhatsApp.
  • Sharing : Our suppliers are aware of relevant Covid-19 measures issued by the government.

Q : What can I do to check my travel plan these days?

A :  We recommend you to see how the situation develops before making any decisions. Myanmar has few COVID-19 and the government is taking measures to contain the disease.

Generally, it is advised to do the following for before you start to travel –

  • Check with your travel agent.
  • Check for any entry restrictions that may have been applied by all countries you are planning to visit / travel through, particularly if you have travelled in or through a country affected by COVID-19 recently. Please note that many countries have now barred foreigners from entering.
  • Check to ensure that all visas or travel documents that have been issued to you are still valid. Please note that many countries now have revoked visas issued by their countries. You should verify this information on a regular basis.
  • Check with your airline to ensure there have been no changes to schedules. Please note that some airlines have shutdown their services or cancelled certain routes.
  • Check your government’s travel advice for all countries that you are intending to visit or travel through.
  • Check for any health advice specific to COVID-19 issued by your government before you leave home.
  • Check with your travel insurance provider that your governments travel advice does not invalidate your travel insurance.
